I'm Ian Haslam, the trainer behind Haslam PT. Alongside three decades in secondary school PE teaching and pastoral leadership, I've spent a lifetime staying active and helping others do the same. I set up Haslam PT to bring that same experience, patience, and attention to detail to one-to-one home training — whatever your age or starting point.
Don't just go through the motions.
Don't just go through the motions. You will be pushed to your limit, guided with precision, and you will feel and see a genuine difference within weeks.
I take pride in helping people improve their fitness, and I'll support and encourage you every step of the way — bringing the same high standards I hold my students to at school. My aim is for you to consistently exceed expectations, not simply meet them.
For the past 34 years I have been, and still am, a PE teacher, working in an inner-city school where I had the privilege of being Head of Year for 21 years. I've helped motivate students aged 11 to 18, bringing an enthusiastic approach that makes PE fun.
I hold a B.Ed (Hons) in Physical Education, and I am a fully qualified Level 3 Gym Instructor and Personal Trainer. I've also been a First Aider for 40 years, so your safety is always in expert hands.
Staying in shape and helping others reach their full potential has always been central to my lifestyle. I've maintained a disciplined training routine of at least six days a week since my university days, and over that time I've seen countless nutrition and training trends come and go. I favour a sustainable approach that delivers results without placing undue strain on the joints and back.
I also work with children, helping them build confidence, resilience, and wellbeing alongside their fitness, and develop sound technical fundamentals and nutrition from an early age. Drawing on my decades as a PE teacher, I know how to make training enjoyable and fun.
All children's training takes place in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. All children under the age of 18 must be chaperoned by a parent or guardian throughout every session. I hold a valid DBS certificate, as required for my work in schools, so parents can be confident their child is in safe, qualified hands.
As part of your programme, I'll also take you into a gym environment and talk you through the machines and free weights, so you build the knowledge and confidence to train independently in any setting.
Training with Ian has been one of the best investments I've made in my fitness. Every session is challenging, motivating, and tailored to exactly what I need. I've noticed a real improvement in my overall conditioning, strength, and confidence, and I actually enjoy pushing myself each week. Ian's knowledge, encouragement, and genuine commitment to helping me improve make all the difference. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking to achieve lasting results.
Getting a session booked in with Ian has been a game changer for my fitness journey. From day one, he has been incredibly motivating, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping me get to where I want to be. The sessions are intense but also fun and tailored to my exact necessities. I've seen improvements in my strength, fitness, and I feel more confidence with my training and goals, working out has become more enjoyable now. Ian's ability to transfer his wealth of knowledge in a way that is not only easy to understand but easy to perform has made huge differences to my routines. If you're thinking about getting a personal trainer then I would most definitely recommend Ian.

Your safety always comes first. Before we begin working together, please take a moment to run through the questions below — this is a standard health screening used across the fitness industry (commonly known as a PAR-Q), and it helps make sure your programme is appropriate for you from day one.
If you answered yes to any of the above, please speak with your GP before starting or increasing your activity levels, and let me know so we can plan safely together. If you answered no to all of them, that's a good sign you're ready to begin — we'll still always start gradually and build from there.
Whether you're working toward a specific fitness goal, preparing for a holiday, or a special occasion where you want to look and feel your best, Haslam PT is here to help you get there. Many clients choose to progress to twice-weekly sessions to build on their results and maintain momentum.
